For almost a century, agriculture and agribusiness have been mainstays of economic stability in Hall County. Hailed as the Poultry Capital of the World, the county generates over $145 million in poultry related products and services annually, though the county is working to present itself as a location for technology firms. It also is home to 35 Fortune 500 firms and approximately 300 manufacturing companies. One of Hall County's newest corporate citizens is the Atlanta Falcons football team; its new practice facility and headquarters is in Flowery Branch. Nearly 42 foreign companies representing at least 10 countries have located in the county. Major employers include ConAgra Poultry, Chicopee Fabrics, Fieldale Corp., Mar-Jac, Warren Featherbone Co. and Caradon Windows and Doors. Through Hall 2000, the Chamber or Commerce enlisted agencies to work toward meeting goals for local education. The Chamber assisted both local school systems and more than 40 existing industries in establishing a Partners in Education Program. The Hall County School System is independent and serves the needs of 20,985 students. Excitement for the county has increased since it was chosen as the site for the 1996 Olympic rowing, sprint canoe and kayak events. The Quinlan Arts Center, the Gainesville Civic Theatre, The Green Street Historic District and The Arts Council Inc. offer a taste of the history and culture.
