Douglas County, just 15 minutes west of the city, has all of the luxuries of a big city while also offering a hometown atmosphere exuding small town friendliness.
The county blends natural beauty with urban convenience and amenities. There are an abundance of cultural and recreational opportunities and diverse communities. A low cost of living attracts new residents, as do a growing educational system, excellent health care facilities and that friendly small-town atmosphere.
Douglas can accommodate any style of living including quiet, attractive neighborhoods, convenient apartment communities and golf and country club communities with amenities that include fishing, hiking trails, golf, tennis and swimming. The county has blossomed lately with scores of new subdivisions that feature a distinct suburban flavor, and buyers can find anything from $100,000 ranches to multi-million dollar mansions. The county, which still has a rural feel despite its proximity, tends to support large lot sizes and top-end recreation communities.
For the purpose of relocating a business, ample land, and water, commercial incentives, numerous transportation choices and easy access to the I-20 corridor make this a prime location for new and relocating industry.
For weekend trips, Sweetwater Creek State Park, Georgia’s second most visited state park, is a great place to hike, fish and explore the rich Native American and Civil War history of the area. A variety of shopping centers and specialty stores, major chains and the 1.4 million square foot, Arbor Place mall, make Douglas the retail hub of west Georgia. Unique dining choices thrive for a casual bite to eat or a first-class gourmet experience.
