Its proximity offers Coweta’s 94,571 residents the best of both worlds. Interstate 85 bisects Coweta, placing Newnan, the county seat, just 30 minutes from Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport.
Both Newnan and Coweta are known throughout the state for their pro-business attitude and take pride in a diversified industrial base. More than 90 industries employ over 8,500 people.
The 2,500-acre Shenandoah Industrial and Business Park, located at I-85 and GA 34 near Newnan, is one of the largest and finest in metropolitan Atlanta. In 1988, the park became the site of the first North American manufacturing plant for Yamaha Motor Company, Ltd. Other international firms located in Coweta include Yokogawa Corporation of America, Kawasaki Loaders Manufacturing Corp., Grenzebach and Bleyle of America. The area is also the southeastern distribution center for
KMart and Eckerd Drugs. Newnan is known for its fine homes, including a number of ante-bellum residences. The city annually celebrates its heritage with a tour of homes. Several areas in Coweta County have been listed as historic districts on the National Register of Historic Places. Coweta has over 860 sites in the National Register of Historic Places.
City and county planning organizations and an active historical society are committed to preserving the quality of life in Coweta.
An outstanding school system keeps pace with the county’s expanding population. Two hospitals with a large number of specialty physicians on staff make Newnan the health care center for Coweta and some surrounding counties. New subdivisions offer homes ranging from the affordable $80s to those approaching the $500s.
